Frequently asked questions
Everything people usually want to know before reaching out.
Do you accept insurance?
No, my fees are out of pocket. I can provide you with a monthly superbill — a document listing the details of the service provided — which you can submit to your insurance company and credit toward your out-of-network benefits. It's your responsibility to understand your benefits.
How much does a session cost?
I charge $110 for the initial intake and $85 per session after that (this includes individual, child, and joint sessions).
What is your intake process like?
Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and my goal is to make the process as comfortable and straightforward as possible. During the initial intake, I'll spend time getting to know you, discussing what brings you to therapy, and learning more about your current needs, experiences, and goals. This is also an opportunity for you to ask questions and get a feel for whether we're a good fit to work together.
How is my privacy protected?
I adhere to all HIPAA and confidentiality laws and keep all of your information confidential and records secure. I utilize a HIPAA-compliant electronic record system for all paperwork. I never disclose information to any third party without your permission.
Because of the nature of HIPAA, it's important that we refrain from other kinds of relationships while we're in a therapeutic relationship. If there are known conflicts of interest, we'll discuss them in our initial conversation.
How will I know when it's time to end therapy?
This is a completely voluntary process — you can end the relationship at any time, for any reason. Because of the relational nature of therapy, it's helpful to talk with me when you feel like you're nearing the end of your sessions, and I'll support you in making the transition.
Do you offer virtual sessions?
Intake sessions are preferred in person. Additional sessions moving forward can be conducted virtually as needed.
Do you take crisis calls?
If you're experiencing an emergency or crisis, please call 911. If you're experiencing domestic violence, you can call 800-799-7233, or text BEGIN to 88788. If you're having thoughts of harming yourself, you can call or text 988 for support.
